With well over 1,000 ratings so far, the Citiz machine has an impressive 4.6 out of five-star rating on Amazon.

One five-star review said: “It is bigger than I expected, but it looks good and makes coffee quickly. Easy to use and the milk frother is excellent. It also comes with a selection of capsules so you can get started straight away.”

Another happy shopper said: “Good coffee machine and good support from Nespresso when my machine and frother stopped working.

“The milk frother is getting replaced by Nespresso after it broke down and they have provided support regarding the coffee maker.”

Another said: “Very pleased with my new purchase. Easy to use, and it’s great that there is a good selection of decaffeinated pods available. There’s also simple system for recycling used pods.”

But not everyone was impressed with this product.

A three-star review read: “It was great at first, but five months down the line it failed. Troubleshooting guide didn’t show fault. I would be loathe to buy another Nespresso product again.”

Another said similar: “It worked well and coffee tasted fine, for about six months. Then it leaked from the bottom and refused to work.

“I sent it back to Nespresso under the two-year warranty, and after about four weeks they offered me a new one. Beware that the new machine doesn’t get a new warranty, the original’s continues.”

Those not convinced by Nespresso’s machine may consider the Bosch Tassimo for £34.99 at Currys. There’s also the Delonghi Dolce Gusto Piccolo machine for £34.99 at Robert Dyas, although be sure to browse the pod options before settling for any of these machines to make sure they’ll meet your tastes.
