(WINK) – It was a close call when a truck crashed through the wall of a Florida woman’s bedroom, nearly hitting her. Now, police are searching for the driver.
It happened on Sunday night at Petronilla Diaz’s home.
“And when the car came crashing in, everything kind of, they said it felt like a big earthquake or like a tornado hit. She had just walked from the bedroom into the restroom, which is right behind on the other side of the bed on the back wall,” Petronilla Diaz’s daughter said.
Petronilla has lived in the home for 16 years. Now it’s left crushed by one driver’s decisions.
On Monday, when asked what happened, “She doesn’t want to remember what happened is what she’s saying,” Petronilla’s daughter said.
But she’s heartbroken.
Witnesses told the Collier County Sheriff’s Office that two men were in this truck and ran from the vehicle after crashing.
“She also has a bruise on her forehead, the door hit her on the forehead. It came back into her and whacked her in the forehead,” Petronilla’s daughter said.
Members of the Diaz family were also inside when the truck crashed. They say the truck reeked of alcohol.
Petronilla’s life was saved by her trip to the bathroom.
“She feels horrible, she’s very scared. To be careful when they’re driving and to not drink and drive,” her daughter said.
Everything changed for Diaz the moment she heard those tires come through her wall.
Now, her family is helping her piece her home back together.
Authorities are still looking for the two men involved.
