AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin ISD elementary school teacher remains in jail after being arrested on child pornography charges.
Records show 50-year-old Carl Innmon, a fifth-grade teacher at Baranoff Elementary School, was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Wednesday afternoon.
The district said they were alerted about an investigation into Innmon on March 11 and immediately placed him on administrative leave. Innmon was in his first year teaching at Baranoff and has not been on campus since March 10.
According to an affidavit, DPS was investigating people using BitTorrent to share images and videos depicting child pornography and child sexual abuse. The investigation into a host computer in Austin started in May 2023 after DPS discovered it was sharing “files of interest.”

DPS discovered a host computer allegedly registered to Innmon was attempting to share files with at least one minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The affidavit states that between Dec. 29, 2024, and Jan. 15, 2025, a total of 126 files were downloaded from Innmon’s host computer.
According to the affidavit, one folder contained several files of a nude infant being sexually abused by an adult man. Another folder contained a video of a young girl between the ages of 5 and 7 years old being fully clothed before an adult man undresses the girl and abuses her. The last folder contained a video of a nude girl between 4 and 5 years old lying on her back before being penetrated by an adult man.
Innmon, who taught American Sign Language at the elementary school, allegedly confirmed to authorities during a search of his home that he downloaded child pornography. Authorities also seized his iPhone, a laptop and a portable hard drive.
During a search of the devices, the affidavit states that “a large quantity” of child sexual abuse materials, including three graphic videos on his portable hard drive.
Innmon is now charged with felony possession of child pornography. He remains in jail on a $75,000 bond.
