MARION COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) – A man was arrested after deputies said he choked a woman and then hit the dog that was defending her with a shovel, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Geoffrey Anderson, 32, of Worthington, was booked into the North Central Regional Jail Wednesday after the domestic incident that occurred on January 9th.
When the victim asked Anderson to leave the residence, he grabbed her by the throat and began choking her. As she was attempting to get him off of her, her dog began defending her by attacking Anderson, deputies said.
Anderson grabbed a nearby metal shovel and struck the dog in the head resulting in a large gash above the dog’s left eye, court documents say.
Anderson is charged with cruelty to animals and domestic battery and is currently in NCRJ with no bond set at this time.
