A Long Island woman has been arrested for allegedly operating a dental practice without a license, authorities said Thursday.

Yolany Y. Mejia Carranza, 55, of Huntington Station, is accused of running the illegal practice out of a home in Bay Shore, Suffolk County Police said in a news release.

She’s also believed to have run a similarly illegal dental office at an address in Huntington Station.

Carranza was arrested just after 3 p.m. on Thursday following a search warrant executed by police in conjunction with the Town of Islip’s fire marshal and building inspector. Upon searching the property, investigators found a “fully functioning dentist office” in the Bay Shore home, according to Greater Long Island.

Carranza was charged with three counts of unauthorized practice of a profession, a class E felony.

She was being held at the Fourth Precinct early on Friday and was expected to be arraigned in Central Islip court in the afternoon.

Police are urging anyone with information or who believes they were a victim of Carranza to contact investigators at (631) 854-8352.
