AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized nearly $7 million worth of cocaine in Hidalgo County last week.
According to a release from DPS, DPS special agents and troopers responded to the Pharr Port of Entry on March 6 over a call reporting an international semitruck that U.S. Customs and Border Protection believed was suspected of smuggling narcotics.
After a secondary inspection, agents recovered 150 plastic-wrapped bundles of cocaine concealed in the cargo area of the vehicle.
The cocaine weighed more than 500 pounds and had an estimated street value of $6.8 million.
The driver of the truck was identified as 33-year-old Mario Robledo from Mexico. He was arrested and charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail.
