Is Barry Ferguson now a genuine contender for the Rangers job?

FRASER WILSON: Why not? He looks comfortable in the shoes although you have to remember it’s two wins and two defeats from four games. Ferguson ticks a lot of boxes and has done his chances no harm so far. But there’s a long way to go in the season and he might be better suited as an assistant in the new regime.

SCOTT BURNS : It is far too early for that. The new owners already have managerial targets they want to speak to. I think they will continue down that track but if Rangers can advance in Europe again then it would enhance the current man’s chances.

ANDY NEWPORT: He’s certainly not harmed his chances. I suspect the new US owners will want a big name once they get their hands on the keys to Ibrox but at the very least Barry has made a decent case that he should be kept on in some coaching capacity.

Who do you think comes out on top in Sunday’s Glasgow derby?

FRASER:Celtic will be too strong on home territory against a Gers side leg weary and mentally drained from 120 minutes of Euro football on Thursday. Celtic don’t lose to the same opposition twice in a row domestically.

SCOTT: You would have to back Celtic. They are in far better domestic form although Rangers did win the last derby. I just think Thursday night would have taken too much out of Rangers and I expect the Hoops to take the points.

ANDY: Celtic are three games from the title and will be fired up while Gers had several players out on their feet by the end of extra-time on Thursday. It’s a huge ask for them to go again so soon after their gruelling exertions and Celtic will rightly be confident of the win.

The Dundee derby is looming tomorrow but who will have the bragging rights?

FRASER: I’m going against all the cliches and sticking with form for this one. United have a bit more momentum at the moment – just a bit – and have a bit more resilience about them. Dundee also haven’t won at Tannadice in two decades. I can’t see that changing.

SCOTT: You would have to go for Dundee United. They are the team pushing for Europe while Dundee are struggling. The Dark Blues won the last derby but were hanging on at the end.

ANDY: Both sides have hit a slump recently but could do with a result for different reasons. The visitors to Tannadice are desperate to pick up a win to alleviate their relegation fears while United need one to boost their bid for third. I’ll sit on the fence and predict a draw!

Are Lennon Miller and James Wilson ready to make their mark in the Scotland squad?

FRASER:Lennon Miller more so. He has proved over two seasons now that he can handle the hustle and bustle of Premiership football. I don’t expect either to get any game time in the two games but Miller could certainly handle a cameo while both will benefit massively from the experience.

SCOTT: I think they are both in for the experience. I’m not sure either will play that much of a part. I was more surprised at the James Wilson call-up as he has had a lot less first-team exposure.

ANDY: They’ll both certainly come high on confidence and without fear. Clarke is right to invite them in and take a look at what they have to offer. He might not be planning on hanging around much longer than the next World Cup but the National Team boss has a duty to plan for the future and this pair will certainly have a big role to play for Scotland in years to come.
