BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -If you’ve ever wanted to help shape the future of the City of Bluefield, your chance is on the horizon, with this year’s upcoming election.
Monday, March 17th, is the first day for filing for candidacy for three positions on the Bluefield City Board: District I, District II, District III. If you’d like to nominate yourself in this election, you have until April 4th at 4:40 pm to stop by City Hall, fill out a candidacy announcement, and pay the $120 filing fee.
Bluefield’s City Clerk hopes those seeking these positions are dedicated to the citizens and the prosperity of the City of Bluefield.
“The Board of Directors for the City, they come in, they attend our twice-a-month board meetings, make decisions on the city policy, and big expenditures of the people’s money. They’re basically the fiduciary of the citizens of Bluefield taxpayer’s money,” says Anthony Heltzel, HR director, city clerk, and assistant city attorney for the City of Bluefield.
Again, you will have from Monday through April 4th at 4:30 pm to nominate yourself. Whoever wins will move into the role on August first.
