There’s a fresh MacBook Air on the block, meaning it might be time to think about an upgrade. Apple has once again made headlines with the unveiling of its shiny new MacBook Air M4.

It feels like only moments ago that the tech giant introduced its budget-friendly iPhone 16e. This latest offering from Apple is quite impressive, boasting a powerful M4 processor housed within its aluminium body.

It comes with more standard RAM (16GB, up from 8GB on entry-level models), an enhanced camera featuring smart Centre Stage technology, and is available in an eye-catching new Sky Blue colour.

It also includes all the usual features such as a razor-sharp display, extended battery life, a comfortable keyboard and the industry-leading Force Touch trackpad.

Apple has even cut the price this year, with prices now starting from just £999 – that’s £100 less than the M3 model cost when it was launched last year.

The new Air is a solid choice for anyone needing a new MacBook without going Pro. But if £999 sounds a bit steep for a one-off payment, there are other options, reports the Express.

Currently, Sky Mobile is offering this new machine for just £22 per month with a £2 upfront fee. They will even include a 100MB data SIM for free as part of the deal.

You will have to commit to a long-term 48-month contract, but the total price is just over £1,050, which isn’t much more than buying directly from Apple. If you tire of the device, Sky will even allow you to switch after 36 months.

Those on the hunt for an upgrade can snag the deal until April 2 courtesy of Apple’s trade-in discount offer. Customers looking to offload their older MacBooks will be pleased to hear that money can be saved on their next purchase.

“Get credit towards a new Mac when you trade in your eligible computer,” Apple highlighted.

If you’ve got an ageing MacBook, obtaining a quote from Apple could pay off, though it requires paying upfront initially.

“Answer a few questions to get your estimated trade-in value. Pay the full amount today and we’ll credit your payment method after we’ve received and evaluated your trade-in,” Apple further explained.

You can find the Sky deal here. Major retailers such as Very, Argos, and Currys also carry the latest MacBook Air, providing consumers with added options, and there are offers available on last year’s M3 Air model too.

For those seeking value, Amazon is currently offering the previous model for just £899 – a tempting option albeit with reduced specs, lacking the enhanced camera and fresh colour choices of the newer version.

Meanwhile, the Express has put the latest iPad model under scrutiny, with tech editor Dave Snelling pondering its strengths and weaknesses.

On the shiny new iPad Air M3, he raved: “Budding artists will clearly love that upgrade, and it really does make the Air a truly versatile device that transforms from pad and paper into a content hub or place to work.”

On the downsides, he went on: “There are no new colours, no design tweaks, and Apple hasn’t addressed some of my criticisms of the previous Air. This includes… not adding Face ID screen unlocking.”
