A 13-year-old boy spotted subway surfing in Brooklyn was rushed to the hospital after he fell from the top of a train car, cops said Tuesday.
The adolescent survived the harrowing ordeal with minor injuries — a better outcome than another 13-year-old boy who was listed in critical condition after falling from a Queens train on Friday, officials said.
The latest teen to fall from a subway car was seen riding atop an R train heading into the Bay Ridge Ave. station around 4:30 p.m. Monday when witnesses said he lost his balance and fell onto the track bed.
The child suffered a minor head injury and was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, cops said.
The teen was charged with reckless endangerment.
At about 8:15 a.m. Friday, a 13-year-old boy fell off a northbound No. 7 train. He was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital with extensive injuries to his head and neck.
He was listed in critical but stable condition Friday. The NYPD hadn’t received an update on the boy’s condition Tuesday.
On Saturday, Mayor Adams said he was “praying for this young man and his family.”
“Subway surfing continues to put our young people at risk, which is why we’re focused on education efforts and live monitoring with drones, but we know we need to get through to more young people,” the mayor said on X.
Early Thursday, another young teen was injured while riding on top of a moving bus in Queens.
The 14-year-old boy fell from the Q20 bus in Kew Gardens Hills as it was traveling east on Main St. and passing 77th Ave. at 2:23 a.m., cops said.
He was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park with a broken arm, police said.
Six people, most of them teens, died while subway surfing in New York City last year. The youngest was just 11.
In November 2024, a drone assisted the NYPD in arresting two teens who had been riding atop a No. 7 train.
