If you’re looking to switch up your skincare routine, you might want to consider Medik8’s latest launch. The beloved brand is known for its science-led formulas that deliver results quickly, and the new Liquid Peptides Advanced MP serum has already garnered a lot of buzz.

The cleverly designed formula combines a multi-peptide complex with ‘mini-proteins’, claiming to improve deep-set wrinkles in eight weeks, while reducing visible wrinkles in only 10 minutes. What’s more, the Medik8 serum has wracked up mostly five-star reviews since launching in January, receiving comments like “magic in a bottle”.

With my semi-annual Botox treatment overdue, I decided to test out the £79 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP serum. Here’s my honest review.

Pros

  • Face appeared instantly fresher overall
  • From repeated use, my skin feels stronger and healthier
  • Fine lines on my forehead are less noticeable
  • Layers well with other skincare products, and sits well under make-up

Cons

  • The price isn’t the cheapest
  • Not as hydrating as other serums, so you might need to follow with a moisturiser
  • It doesn’t replicate the effects of Botox (no skincare product can)

I normally wait 4-6 months before getting top-ups for Botox from Dr Sophie Shotter (who’s really popular amongst beauty editors), but as the faint lines on my forehead appeared more prominent lately, I wanted to find out if Medik8’s new serum would help until my next treatment with Dr Shotter.

My first thought was, like other Medik8 products I’ve tried, this serum has an elegant formula. It absorbs fast, feels rich without being greasy, layers perfectly with my other skincare products, and there was no pilling under my foundation.

I realised that my face was instantly smoother after using this, and after checking the skin again in 10 minutes time, I realised a subtle difference. Although my lines weren’t immediately banished, I felt my skin was overall a bit more fresh, healthier and stronger, reports the Mirror.

While I am sure this product won’t stop me from receiving Botox (no skincare can freeze muscles), I can probably rely on it to keep me feeling confident about my complexion in between top-ups.

It’s worth noting that the formula isn’t as hydrating as other serums, like those containing hyaluronic acid or glycerin; I can sometimes leave out moisturiser and apply SPF straight after serum, but with this, I don’t feel like I can skip a face cream (my go-to Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, £45, works wonderfully with it).

It’s only been a few weeks since I started using the serum and I haven’t got any deep-set wrinkles yet so can’t say it delivers on this claim, but on the whole it provides a great all-round ‘anti-ageing’ serum for your regular skincare regime. There’s no one I can think of that it wouldn’t be suitable for – and over 1,000 five-star reviewers surely agree.

For those who prefer lightweight hydrating formulas over anti-wrinkle serums, this new Laneige new Bouncy & Firm Serum, £39, is a good alternative.

Meanwhile, Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex Serum has been reduced by 15%. You can now get it on LookFantastic for £55.25 instead of £65.
