The Spring Equinox kicks off tomorrow (March 20) and with it, comes the lighter nights we’ve (mostly) all been waiting for… As of Thursday, spring will most definitely have sprung, and happily the sunshine has made a welcome return to the Scottish skies for the occasion.
But as we prepare to bid goodbye to the harsh realities of winter, we’re all being called to reflect on the past few months, and hold space for balance and reflection in our lives. That’s the official advice of celebrity astrology experts like Russell Grant, who, as we reported yesterday, warned all signs to be prepared to stop and “think”.
There are actually two dates for the start of spring. The meteorological calendar dictates that spring begins on March 1, so is already well underway, but, according to the astrological calendar, spring starts on March 20, as the Spring Equinox signals the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

Ahead of the upcoming event, celebrity astrologer Inbaal Honigman has also given some predictions about how each of the 12 signs of the zodiac will be affected.
Opening up to Spin Genie, Inbaal revealed her full horoscope for the forthcoming astrological occurrence. Delving into each zodiac sign, she explains that as the Spring Equinox marks the beginning of Aries season, when Aries can expect a sense of balance in the coming month.
Meanwhile, with Pisces season drawing to a close, those under this sign may need time to adjust to the changes that spring and sunshine bring.
There’s also one water sign in particular who will find the big day an emotional one (clue, it’s not Pisces or Scorpio) but Inbaal provides some advice to them on how best to get through this….
Aries
The Spring Equinox is also the start of the Aries season, and the new astrological year. The start of Aries season signifies new beginnings for you, and the Equinox symbolises balance.
Together, these messages come to announce that the more you strive for personal balance in your life, the sooner you’ll see results. There’s no need to push hard and strive. If you just work on yourself, find your centre and seek balance in your own dealings, everything else will fall into place naturally.
Taurus
Balance is your natural state. As you are ruled by the gentle planet Venus, which controls love and the home, you are the best at listening to others, organising your space and keeping life and love graceful and elegant.
The Spring Equinox, which is a time for setting your environment ready for a spring clean and seeing peace in everything, is your most aligned moment of the year. Take advantage of the moment and conduct a big home purge. Bin or donate anything that’s of no use.
Gemini
Can anyone appreciate the Equinox more than you? I doubt it, Gemini. The one sign that has the same affection for light as for dark, for day as for night, and for silence as for noise. You can’t wait for that day when opposites come together to create the perfect date.
Dual signs like Libra and Pisces understand the joy in duality, but you are the one that really needs this duality in order to survive. Extremes don’t work for you, only a perfect union of opposites, like today.
Cancer
Cancer is a very empathic sign, so for you, the end of one season is a perfect time to shed a little tear. You’ll miss the dark season. With its inclement weather and long, lingering nights, puddles, hot chocolate and winter markets. The Equinox gives you a day to say goodbye.
Then, you’ll switch your allegiance and empathise with the upcoming season of light. The long days and the buckets and spades for the beach will bring you joy until the Autumn Equinox in September.
Leo
Naturally, summer is more your season than winter, and extremities are more suited to you than the Equinoxes. You like the sunniest days, the most flavourful dishes and the scariest of adventures. So in comes the Equinox, and it asks you to be balanced.
You don’t have to obey, Leo, but it will be good to give balance some thought. Imagine what life would be like if you were more committed to a peaceful equilibrium?
Virgo
You appreciate balance and order, so your world is always a little bit Equinoxial. At work, you try to give your favourite tasks the same length of attention as your least favourite tasks. At home you’ll divide your time between chore and chill equally without feeling hard done by.
Your love life is a masterclass in giving and receiving. So what can you learn from the Equinox? Nothing, you’re here not to learn, but to teach.
The Autumn Equinox is the end of Virgo season, so you’re in the perfect position to help others who struggle to keep their balance. Advise those in need and hold space for the confused.
Libra
Your sign is represented by the Scales, and balance is what you’re about. As such, the period of the Equinoxes is a natural and happy time for you. Dark and light are equal, and this represents everything you stand for.
The new astrological year is about to start, exactly six months before your season begins. What would you like to achieve in these six months? Make a pact with yourself to have success this summer.
Scorpio
The planet of rebirth, Pluto, is the ruling planet for your sign, so as the new astrological year is reborn, you’re excited that some new winds are breathing into your life.
The quick moment of the Equinox, when everything is in balance, is of no interest to you – you’re no fan of calm and equilibrium. Soon, there will be new ideas to toy with and a new focus. And this excites you.
Sagittarius
You’re an adventurous free spirit and at times a bit extreme, so balance is not exactly your thing. Your Sagittarian tendency would be to pick the solution which is the loudest, funniest or most colourful, whereas the Spring Equinox begs of you to choose balance, pale and quiet.
You’ve got to stay true to yourself and remain colourful, but make sure you listen to nature’s peaceful message, too.
Capricorn
You’re one of the most disciplined signs of the Zodiac, and therefore you appreciate balance whenever and wherever it may meet you. Even though you don’t mind the dark side of the year, you welcome and enjoy the opportunities of increased daylight and you’re happy to see summer approaching.
Your ambition and focus are dependent on your environment, and you prefer it when others aren’t being chaotic, so the day of equal light and dark demonstrates to you that happiness and positivity are on their way.
Aquarius
There are two equal and opposite forces working within Aquarius. You take responsibility for everything on Earth – you want to bring joy, relief from poverty, solve all wars and reverse climate change.
You do your best, because every person can make a difference, and your dedication is enviable. The other force which pulls you, is that you want everyone else to be as focused and driven as you. And this is when you run into trouble.
Try, at this time of the equinox, to demand a little less from others, and while you’re at it, demand a lot less from yourself.
Pisces
Spring Equinox is the end of Pisces season. The old astrological year has now ended, and the shadow part of the year is left behind. Since you’re deep and creative, you kind of loved the shadow part of the year, so you’ll need a few moments to adjust to all the spring and sunshine.
Do not be embarrassed to ask for time out while you process these changes – take the day to focus on yourself. Paint, listen to music, stare at the water and breathe.
