TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. – Friends, family and first responders welcomed a fallen retired dispatcher home on Wednesday.
Retired dispatcher Chrissy Shinall passed away on Wednesday after an illness but she received a warm welcome back to the county. Those who knew Shinall gathered on an overpass above U.S. 460 as a procession guided her home.
Shinall served as a dispatcher for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office for 28 years. She recently retired in January and WVVA was present for her retirement party at the sheriff’s office.
“She is one of our charter dispatchers. 911 started in 1997, so she has been here since the day we took our first 911 call in Tazewell County,” Captain Randy Ann Davis previously told WVVA.
