AUSTIN, Texas — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a death possibly related to fentanyl in the county last week.
On March 15, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Unit responded to reports of a possible fentanyl poisoning death at a residence located on County Road 433 in Thrall.
Deputies located a 30-year-old woman dead in the residence.
The investigation is still active, as final autopsy and toxicology tests still need to be done.
During the 88th Texas legislative session, Texas lawmakers passed House Bill 6, which upgrades the charges to murder for providing fentanyl that results in a death. The law also requires that death certificates specify fentanyl toxicity or fentanyl poisoning as the cause of death, instead of an overdose.
