Fox News host Sean Hannity joined President Trump in throwing his support behind Republican mega-donor Elon Musk’s embattled electric vehicle company.

The veteran TV personality hosted Musk for an interview Tuesday night, when he heaped praise on Tesla — much to the liking of the automaker’s polarizing CEO. Hannity started by stating he recently purchased a Tesla, for which Musk thanked him.

“It’s like the greatest car ever invented,” Hannity declared. “It really is. And I’m not just saying that.”

The 63-year-old MAGA pundit announced last week that he’d bought a new Tesla S Plaid in a social media post promoting a Tesla giveaway. He boasted on Tuesday that his roughly $90,000 new car reaches 60 mph in 0.2 seconds, which isn’t accurate.

“Two seconds, yeah,” a beaming Musk corrected him, joking that the car is fast, but not that fast.

Hannity’s enthusiastic support of Musk was largely mocked as an “infomercial” on X, the social media platform Musk owns.

Musk’s appearance on “Hannity” comes on the heels of a White House event hosted by President Trump, who urged Americans to buy Musk’s products and warned that vandalism or intentional damage to Tesla vehicles would be seen as an act of “domestic terror.”

Tesla automobiles, dealerships and charging stations have been spray painted, set on fire and bombarded with Molotov cocktails in recent weeks as Musk has expanded his reach at home and abroad. He became outraged on Tuesday over a provocative website listing the names and addresses of people it said own Teslas.

“Encouraging destruction of Teslas throughout the country is extreme domestic terrorism!!” Musk wrote on X.

Hannity’s endorsement didn’t hurt Musk’s bottom line. After a steady decline that accelerated when Trump took office in January, Tesla stock saw an uptick in value on Wednesday when it closed more than10 points above the previous day’s mark.

Musk donated nearly $300 million to help elect Trump and his political allies in the 2024 election. The president then tasked Musk with running the newly created and highly controversial Department of Government Efficiency to reduce federal spending by trimming programs and eliminating jobs.

Overseas, resentment against Musk stems largely from his support of right-wing political groups and ideology. In many places, Tesla has been dubbed the “Swasticar.”
