Union Pacific told NewsWest 9 no one was injured and there were no HAZMAT releases.

CULBERSON COUNTY, Texas — A Union Pacific train derailed Friday morning near a small community of Kent, Texas, according to a Union Pacific official.

Approximately 33 boxcars derailed.

Union Pacific said the derailment happened at about 5 a.m.

There were no injuries and no HAZMAT releases, according to Union Pacific.

Local officials were notified and the cleanup process is underway.

NewsWest 9 is heading to the scene.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
