LEWIS COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) – During a traffic stop Friday evening the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office seized $42,000 worth of suspected fentanyl stamps.

The department conducted a traffic stop on a white SUV near the Jackson Mill Corner Mart at approximately 4:46 p.m. Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the vehicle was occupied by a known wanted individual. Before the wanted individual got into the squad car, deputies found a blue narcotic smoking device in the individual’s pocket, which gave probable cause for a search of the vehicle.

In the vehicle, police found 2,100 suspected fentanyl stamps with an estimated street value of $42,000.

The driver and the known wanted individual were arrested and taken to Central Regional Jail, deputies said.

No names of the individuals involved have been released at this time.

The Mountain Region Drug Task Force and West Virginia State Police assisted the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department in this investigation.
