MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A local is now the iconic face of the mountain state’s largest university.
Cade Kincaid of Fayetteville, WV has officially become West Virginia University’s 71st Mountaineer mascot after the official Passing of the Rifle Ceremony was held on Friday.
Following the celebration Kincaid began his reign as the official Mountaineer on Saturday during the Gold-Blue Spring Showcase at Milan Puskar Stadium.
“This role means so much to me. From age 4 to 20, I was a Mountaineer fan, but in the past two years, it really dawned on me that, if I were to pursue this role, I could really make a change and influence people and our state in a good way,” said Kincaid.
