Luke Littler got to bed sharpish for an early Sunday rise after an incredible destruction of James Wade.
The Nuke produced a simply staggering display to destroy The Machine. Littler won all eight legs of the match with a 105 average and Wade didn’t even get a shot at a double as he was blasted off the stage. Astonishingly, the 18-year-old darts sensation did his damage inside a remarkable 15 minutes and 10 seconds to surge into the quarter-finals tomorrow afternoon.
It was simply breath-taking from the normal evening headliner who now faces a rare afternoon test against Jonny Clayton. Lightning Littler said: “I played very well there. Obviously towards the end I missed 170 and I thought James was going to do it to win his first leg of the match. He missed it and I took my chance.
“You always expect the best game out of James. But I’m thankful for him not turning up tonight. But the 105 would have taken some beating and I was good on the doubles that I’m really happy with.
The reigning Premier League Darts and PDC World Champion added: “I just wanted to get the job done. James didn’t play very well. But tonight wasn’t his day. I’m a quick starter and that’s what you need in this tournament.
“Double 10 is always there for me, it’s always knocking about. I can always switch to the 10s. It’s an early wake-up for myself tomorrow!
